Backstory

Kate was born in a remote village on the outskirts of the jungle. The village's primary industry was lumber, and her father was a lumberjack by trade. When Kate was five years old, her younger sister, Bianca, was born, and her mother died due to childbirth complications. Kate's father tried his best to keep his small family together. He could not find anyone to watch his children by day while he was working, so he told Kate to take care of Bianca in his absence. His meger wages were just enough to keep his children fed and housed.

Kate, however, did not like being alone all the time, and was not very good at taking care of a newborn. One day she decided to follow her daddy out into the woods, with Bianca in tow. She soon got horribly lost in the depths of the forest. She did not know why her Daddy didn't come and find her, and felt like he had abandoned her and her sister. She wandered for two days, her sister growing weeker and weeker, until she finally passed out from exhaustion.

When Kate woke up, she was being carried on the back of a very strong woman. She and her sister were taken to the Barbarian camp, where they were fed and clothed and taken care of. Kate, who had felt abandoned by her father, felt that the tribe's notion of "All men are evil" must have been correct. She grew up in barbarian society, learning to hate men and the best ways to kill them.

She was trained in the ways of the sword, wrestled with bears, and became an extreamly skilled melee fighter. She lived with Yejide, whom was Kate and Bianca's primary caretaker and personal trainer.

As Kate grew older, she was expected to complete a right of passage. Before a tribeswoman can be considered a true member of the tribe, she must slay/sacrifice 100 men for the great mother goddess. Most woman in Kate's tribe attained this status by killing captured prisoners, or by actively hunting men. Kate, although an excellent fighter, is not a cold blooded killer. She loves the feel of combat and likes to kill skilled fighters, but she does not like killing 'puny' or 'weak' men. She found this task rather daunting at first, and did not peruse it actively. Kate perfered to spend her time training, but gave lipservice to her tribe's demands. Ambition and pride were never an issue to Kate; all that mattered was the feel of combat, of steel against steel, of sweat and adrenaline.

Kate's younger sister, Bianca, killed 100 men before Kate, and was promoted to the status of full tribeswoman. Kate, considered by her tribe at the time to be one of the most promising and strongest warriors, was only pushed to peruse this right of passage after her younger sister had obtained it. She did not want to spend the rest of her life being considered a 'novice' in the tribe. Therefore, she asked her Matriarch for permission to leave the tribe and seek out the strongest warriors she could to slay.

Just as Kate was about to leave on this quest, however, horrible monsters appeared in Kate's forest and made the sky turn purple. Kate's tribe became very angered by this, and so Kate left not only looking for strong men to kill, but to stop the source of the monsters.

Psychology

For a very long time, Kate hated men. Growing up in a very closed minded community, she never really questioned the beliefs of her tribe. After meeting the people she's met and seen the things she's seen she's begun to see the world in a different light. Lueali and Araxin have explained many different things to her regarding magic and how things are done in the outside world. She's begun to question her very core beliefs, as her religion seems to have taught her outright lies about how the world works. She feels now that what her tribe has been doing is evil, although she is to stubborn to admit it.

Kate has seen many, many horrors, and after acquiring her memories she understands that there's more to fighting than the adrenaline high. She has seen more evil and wrong-doing than any mortal should have to face. She wants to use her gifts of power and brute force to stop the evils of the false gods and hextasaruses. By doing this, she feels that she'll help to protect her beloved tribe members and most importantly her younger sister.

Kate gets very angry for no reason sometimes. Kate will rage if a door doesn't open, or if a man walks into a room. She's a very moody and irritable person sometimes.

Alignment

Kate is Chaotic Neutral. She is used to being a part of a nomadic hunting/gathering tribe, and for the most part, she goes where she wants to when she wants to. She fights when she wants to as well. She will act hostile towards men and will hide her unwillingness to kill them by saying that they aren't 'worth soiling her blade.'

Current Events

Wow. I remember it all. Everything. Everything that's happened with them.

The world... It's full of magic. Magic is an amazing thing. It can take us anywhere we want to go, it can make ships fly and it can raise the dead. It can hurt, too. That Sykle man... He broke the magic somehow. He kidnapped people, young small and innocent people, and he used them to break the universe. He killed them and sapped their lifeforce. And now, now some Elkys godess-man is... murdering. And kidnapping, or savior-ing, or something. I don't know if it's a god or a monster. But it's hurting people, and it's powerful. I have to stop it. Not just for the sake of battle, but for my people. And especially for my family. I can't leave a world like this for my little sister.

Relationships

Kate gets along well with tribe members, but is suspicious of all other people. She is suspicious even of females, as women can masquerade as men.

    • Rayn - He went into the floating castle- what a true act of bravery. He is a true woman in every sense of the word. He deserves the highest warriors honor- I only hope he is able to escape with his life.
    • Medea - Poor Medea- I had to watch her die. But now, she's back, and her hypogriff is too. She's a valuable ally to have. I'm glad she's with us.
    • Lueali - Lueali! He's back! I'm so glad I remember him. He's taught me many things since we've first started adventuring. He's been a true friend and a mentor to me. I only hope he holds the key to defeating Elkys.
    • Lightning Tiger - A young male who is wise for his age, a great ally and a true friend. He saved my life. He knows much about the world. I must watch out for these Huffleflumps he keeps mentioning. He always has a trick up his sleeve and has gotten us out of many sticky spots.
    • Khae - I'm glad I remember Khae. He's a rabbit and a man, apparently. Only now, he's short- closer to his rabbit-stature I suppose. He's indeed very fast and good with a knife. I value his skills as a warrior.
    • Flora - Flora! I got to see Flora again! I can't believe I forgot Flora. She too has done much for me.
    • Olioliolio - Olio is a very valuable ally. Although Araxin seems to not like her very much, she's done a lot for us and as far as I'm concerned the ends justify the means. She's helped many people with her skills.
    • Araxin- I'm sorry I called him a man when I forgot him. Although Araxin and I definitely don't get along sometimes, he's extreamly knowledgeable about magic. He should be, being a sun-lightning god. He too has taught me much. I am greatful to have the chance to fight by his side to stop the tragedies occurring throughout the world. I hope his Meylor powers will be enough to stop the evil ones.
    • Sian - I don't think we ever would have gotten as far as we have without Sian. I saw her magic our party members out of the earth and trees, I've seen her call up storms. Although her magic is different from the others, she has a great personality and I enjoy her company very much. Sian has taught me a lot about the world, like how elves and trees can be the same thing, sometimes. I'm glad I remember her now. She is the most womanly woman outside of my tribe that I know of. She turns into bears!!!!
    • Murich - Another friend who has helped me to many times to count. One of the kindest individuals I have ever met- truly womanly and brave. He serves Paylor, or Maylor or whatever quite well. His magic is extreamly powerful, although it has declined since the magic broke a year ago.
    • Bianca - Oh, no. Goddess, no! Why are you here? I have seen hell on earth. You shouldn't have to. Dying in battle is glorious and wonderful, but this evil won't allow you to die properly. No, Bianca, it will steel your life force. There's nothing glorious about that. Go home.
    • NPC Guy who gives me roses | I didn't think I'd run into him again! I guess it's normal for men and women to be friends with each other. He doesn't strike me as extraordinarily womanly or warrior like, but I would like to get to know him. He seems to know a lot about flowers since he keeps finding very tasty ones. Mmm, thorns.

Epilogue

Kate, after seeing what she's seen, found it impossible to return to life as it was. She could not return to her tribe, knowing that it was evil, and that the goddess they served was false. She decided to go on a personal quest, to try and locate her long lost father, whom after twenty years could very well be dead. She also made an alignment shift to Chaotic Good, and has been trying her best to protect the innocent. Being very chaotic in nature, Kate perused a romance with the french NPC guy and had a son, whom she named Amanda, about a year after the end of the campaign. Kate tries her best to be a good mother, but as she cannot be tied down, she left the french NPC guy and travels around with her son. She's taken levels in frenzied berzerker and fights in arenas to earn her keep. Kate assures Amanda that it's okay to be a man, and insists that he only eats raw meat so he grows up strong. Amanda is still a child, but one day Kate hopes to apprentice him to a wizard so he can blow stuff up with teh magickz. Whenever Kate needs to go on a dangerous adventure, she leaves Amanda with his father or with Flora, whomever is geographically closer to her.
